Accessibility Statement

Built to be used by everyone who needs it.

This statement applies to lawfiq.com in both its English and Arabic versions. It says what we have done, how we test, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Accessibility statement

Our standard

We design and test this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is our target, not a certificate: we do not claim full conformance, and we have not yet had an independent audit. LawFiq is a private company, so the accessibility regulations that apply to UK public-sector websites do not apply to us. We publish this statement because the people who use this site should know where they stand.

What we have done

  • Keyboard. Every link, button, form control and menu can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. The mobile menu keeps focus inside it while open and closes with Escape. A skip link goes straight to the main content.
  • Visible focus. The element you are on is always outlined, on light and dark backgrounds alike.
  • Reduced motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, animation and smooth scrolling are switched off.
  • Contrast. Text colours are chosen to meet the AA contrast ratio, including small gold text, which uses a darker shade for that reason.
  • Two scripts, two directions. The Arabic site is a full right-to-left layout, not a mirrored English page. Arabic type is set in faces chosen for legibility, with generous line height.
  • Responsive layout. Pages work from small phones to wide screens without horizontal scrolling, and text can be enlarged in the browser.
  • Structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks, lists and labels, so that screen readers can describe and navigate them.
  • Images. Every meaningful image has a text description. Decorative patterns are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Forms. The consultation form has visible labels, states which fields are optional, explains errors in plain words next to the field and in a summary you can move through, and announces status changes to screen readers.
  • Safety. Pages about family matters carry a Quick exit button that can be reached by keyboard.

How we test

Before pages are published we validate the markup, run automated accessibility and performance checks, and test by hand: keyboard-only navigation, zoomed text, reduced-motion settings, and the layout at narrow, medium and wide widths, in both languages. Automated tools catch only part of what matters, so manual testing is part of every release.

Known limitations

  • Screen-reader testing. We have not yet completed structured testing with screen readers across the common browser combinations, in either language. That work is planned, and this statement will be updated when it is done.
  • Date picker. The consultation form’s date field uses your browser’s own date control, which varies between browsers and follows your browser’s language rather than the page’s.
  • Form delivery needs JavaScript. The consultation form sends your request from this website and confirms on the page that it has been received, which relies on JavaScript. If JavaScript is unavailable, use the email address or phone number shown beside the form.
  • Brand name in Arabic. The LawFiq name appears in Latin script on the Arabic site by design. Some screen readers may pronounce it differently from how it is said.
